The Spanish Republic (officially in Spanish: República Española) and commonly known as the Second Spanish Republic (in Spanish: Segunda República Española) to distinguish it from the previous and short-lived First Spanish Republic (1873–1874), was the democratic republican administration that existed in Spain from 1931 to 1939 (preceded by the Restoration and followed by Fascist / Nationalist Francoist Spain after the Spanish Civil War, 1936–1939).
