Charlotte C. Ware was born in Murray, Utah just after the turn of the century, she traveled across the United States, living in Illinois and the greater Boston area. She became known for the fine quality of her watercolor portraits, created a weekly paper doll series for the Boston Sunday Post, illustrated feature stories, and developed her own colors and techniques for firing and glazing ceramic. Some of the titles she illustrated or co-illustrated for a series of school books called the Faith and Freedom Basic Readers are: These Are Our Friends, 1951; This Is Our Parish, 1948; and This Is Our Valley, 1953. Her illustrations are in the original and "new" versions from the 1940's and 1950's.
